Conract coating companies can practically test STIR® drying

Three new coating drying systems show the successful cooperation in development of the IBT with a renowned German plant manufacturer. Not only could the length of the system be shortened by 75 %, compared to the old system the electric connected load was reduced by 50 %.

The drying task comprises the exact pre-drying of aqueous 1K and 2K coating systems. For that STIR® emitters are implemented in a particular compact machine unit that provides consistent drying results under all climatic conditions.

Short-wave radiators often heat the core of the substrate too much which subsequently leads to various surface defects and component deformations during the varnish hardening. In opposite to that the infrared is absorbed almost exclusively by the varnish when using medium-wave STIR® emitters. This results in a better and faster drying of the coating. The substrate is heated less; component deformations and the subsequent development of surface defects, e. g. because of out-gassing of the substrate, are avoided.

Contract coating companies have the possibility to let coating drying test get carried out under practical development centre conditions. Contact person of IBT for enquiries is Ulrich Putzschke.
